Pergolas & Shade Canopies in Almaty
We manufacture pergolas, shade canopies and gazebo-style structures for courtyards, squares, residential complexes and commercial sites. Powder-coated steel frame, wood or WPC slats, any dimensions to your project.
What we manufacture
Slatted pergolas
Classic structures with a slatted roof — diffuse shade, open air.
Roofed canopies
Solid polycarbonate or metal-sheet roofing — protection from sun and rain.
Combined
Part solid roof, part slatted — shade and shelter in one structure.
Wall-mounted
Fixed to a facade or retaining wall — saves space at entrance areas.
Linear series
Repeating sections along a pedestrian route as a shaded corridor.
Turnkey with furnishing
Pergola + benches + bins + surfacing in one consistent style.
What a pergola is and why a site needs one
A pergola is an open frame structure of posts and a slatted roof. It doesn’t fully enclose the space — it diffuses direct sun while marking a clear boundary for a rest area. That lets a pergola do two jobs at once: create shade and structure the site, separating a bench-and-table zone from through-traffic paths.
In landscaping, pergolas go over rest areas in courtyards and squares, along pedestrian routes as a shaded corridor, at entrance areas of residential complexes and offices, and over quiet zones next to playgrounds — giving parents somewhere to wait out the heat.
It’s worth distinguishing a pergola from a canopy. A pergola is slatted and lets light through — it doesn’t protect from rain. A canopy has solid roofing (polycarbonate, metal sheet, membrane) and shelters from precipitation. We build both types, including combined structures — part slatted, part roofed.
Construction and materials
The load-bearing frame is profile steel tube with anti-corrosion preparation and a polymer powder coating. That’s the optimal choice for a pergola: a slim profile spans wide bays, and the coating needs no annual refinishing. Fully wooden structures look softer but last noticeably less outdoors without regular upkeep.
The roof is built from slats — wood (larch), WPC, or metal. Slat spacing sets shade density: tighter spacing means darker and cooler, wider spacing means lighter and airier. South-facing sites in Almaty usually call for tighter spacing.
Posts are set in concrete footings or anchored to a prepared slab. For structures with a large roof area, the foundation is calculated for wind and snow load — a detail that budget offers tend to skip.
Furnishing a rest area
A pergola is rarely installed on its own. Benches or sofas, bins and sometimes tables usually go underneath it. We manufacture that entire set ourselves, so the structure and its furnishings can be held to one style: one metal tone, one wood treatment, coordinated proportions.
For larger sites, pergolas are built as a series — identical structures at an even spacing along a route read as one architectural statement and cost less than several different ones.
